The 2026 Wyoming High School girls’ state championships are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Gillette. Class 4A features 15 teams in the field, and 3A will have 10 competing. The scoring format changes to 16-competitor scoring this year. Based on previous state championships and the top times and performances throughout the season, WyoPreps previews what we think will happen this weekend.

WYOPREPS LOOKS AT THE FAVORITES AT WYOMING GIRLS STATE SWIM MEET

Here is a breakdown of the favorites for individual events and relay races. Plus, a look at how the team rankings stack up.

Class 3A

For the third straight year, Lander is a heavy favorite to win this division. It would be their third in a row and fifth in the last six years, including a tie in 2021. The Tigers have been the best team in the state throughout the 2026 season against either 3A or 4A competition. They bring back Vayda Havens, Emily Plaisted, Sara Kearns, and Chayse Denton. Havens has won the two distance freestyle races the past two years. Plaisted captured the 200 IM in 2024 and 2025. Kearns ranks either first or second in the sprint freestyle races. Lander’s depth also helps them dominate. The Tigers have won all three relays in the last two state championships.

Havens has the top time among 3A qualifiers in four swimming events and is second in two more.

Kemmerer sophomore Logan Rogers returns to defend her titles in the 50 and 100 free. She has top-four times in both events. Buffalo’s Milan Monterastelli is the defending breaststroke champion. She has the top time this season in the breaststroke and butterfly events and is second in the IM. Those two will contend with the Lander contingent.

Other top swimmers include Guinevere Roberson and Abby Dykes from Douglas, Charlie Boylen of Kemmerer, Milly Bentley from Lyman, and Buffalo’s Katey Jacob and Vyolet Gripp.

Diving will have a new champion. Brooklyn White of Lander, Matison Sanchez of Rawlins, Delanie Johnson of Worland, Allison Berglund of Buffalo, and Gabby Bartschi of Kemmerer look to be the top contenders.

Lander is favored in all three relays. The Tigers have the top times in the 200 and 400 free relays. They are second in the medley behind Buffalo. The Bison, Kemmerer, and Douglas will try to challenge Lander.

In the team competition, after Lander, Buffalo, Douglas, and Kemmerer will battle for second.

Class 4A

This division will have several new champions after four swimmers who won seven of the eight individual events last year graduated. That opens the door for a new crop of champions.

Leading the way is Anna Baxter from Jackson. The junior is back to defend her breaststroke title. She has the fastest recorded time this year in four events and is top five in three more.

Riverton’s Lily Ormond has the fastest times in the 50, 100, and 200 free races. Danica Lamb leads the charge in the 500 free.

Plenty of other contenders in the pool include Cheyenne Central’s Addy DeLay, Sheridan’s Hannah Mowry and Kloe Fjell, Jackson’s Dalia Leoni, Riverton’s Luci Pfister Laramie’s Addi Graves, Thunder Basin’s Maddy Olsen, and Green River’s Kaylin Uhrig should also factor into some races.

4A diving is led by Central’s Ella Reed, the defending champion. Evanston’s Sydnie Peay, Laramie’s Shirley Nordberg, and Thunder Basin’s Ariana Doherty and Maddie Besich are the top contenders. A dark horse could be Laramie’s Brynlee Enevoldsen. Reed is the only one to score more than 400 points in an 11-dive format this season.

Sheridan enters the championships with the best times in the 200-medley and 200-freestyle relays. Cheyenne Central has the top time in the 400 free relay. Jackson, Riverton, and Thunder Basin look to push those two favorites.

Cheyenne Central is the substantial favorite in 4A. Coach Bott’s squad has a great shot at winning its first 4A title since 2004. The tighter race is for second. That’s between Sheridan, Jackson, Thunder Basin, Riverton, and Laramie.
