After 10 days of practice, the new boys’ swimming & diving season debuts on Friday and Saturday in Wyoming. All 25 teams will compete somewhere around the state. The season leads to the state championships on February 19-21, 2026, in Cheyenne at East High School. That will be here before we know it. Gillette hosts the biggest meets this weekend, with all but four 4A teams attending their two competitions over the first two days. Their formats will be a fun relay meet followed by the pentathlon. Rawlins has seven teams in its pentathlon on Saturday, and Cody has five.

WyoPreps 2025 Season Outlook

Lander and Laramie are the defending champions from the 2025 season.

Class 4A

Laramie won its eighth consecutive title last February. Laramie lost some key swimmers but returns Kelan Stakes, Brock Rasmussen, Braden Rasmussen, and Sam An to lead this year’s charge in the pool. Max Griffiths and Rhys Birdsley help the Plainsmen in diving.

Campbell County and Cheyenne Central will also be in the mix for the top spot.

The Camels are led by perhaps the top all-around swimmer in the state, junior Cy Gallion. He is the defending state champ in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle races. Wherever Coach Rehard puts him, Gallion is a threat to win. Fellow junior Brady Hunt, who won last year’s 100 fly and 100 back, also gives the Camels another star to build their team around. Campbell County needs a little more depth.

The Indians are led by two-time state champion diver Brady Benne, who has dominated the last two seasons. Now a junior, Benne looks to take another step forward on the board. Central’s is paced by Chris Hager, Ian Young, Evan Bott, and Ian Whitesell.

Sheridan returns a top swimmer in Ben Forsythe, who is the two-time defending champ in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke races. Riverton’s got swimmers who could make a splash with Alex Jordan and Brody Koch.

Kelly Walsh, Sheridan, and Green River weren’t too far from the podium, so 4A might have several contenders once we get to February.

Class 3A

The Tigers look to make it 30 in a row in Class 3A. Lander lost some stars, but not too many teams can compete with their depth. Plus, until someone beats the Tigers, they are the favorites in 3A. Carter Plaisted, Trevor Hill, and Brody Blunck will be counted to lead the charge in the pool, while Jace Hammond helps on the diving board.

The top swimmer in 3A will likely be Malachi Villareal at Kemmerer. The senior was the 3A Athlete of the Meet last February. Malachi had dominant victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. He set state records in both events.

The Buffalo Bison lost some valuable seniors from last season, but they return a very solid group of swimmers. Asher Murray and Everett Thomas will help the Bison contend for the podium. Those two could also be in the mix when you discuss the top swimmers in the 3A division.

Other top returners in 3A include Newcastle’s Gabe Hoover, Lyman’s Evan Bentley and Trey Buckner, and Powell’s Will Fuller.

Cody’s Bryson Laing is the defending 3A diving champ and has a great chance to repeat this season. Hammond from Lander and Bowman Sandall of Kemmerer will try to push the champ.

Who will be the newcomers to burst onto the scene? We will find out soon.
