Photofest: Thunder Basin Still in 4A Football Playoff Scenario

Thunder Basin's football team started out the 4A season 0-4 but hung right in there winning 3 of their last 4 games. The Bolts have played their way into the playoff discussion thanks to a 47-14 road win over Laramie on Friday evening. Thunder Basin is 3-5 on the year and the Plainsmen are now 2-6

Hadley Hudson started the Thunder Basin scoring barrage with a 75-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter, putting the Bolts in front 6-0. They blew the game open with 3, 2nd quarter scores, as Hudson threw a pair of TD strikes, one to Parker Wagner that went for 25 yards, and another to Garrett Breuer that covered 34 yards. Sandwiched in between those plays, was a 9-yard run to the end zone by Hudson so the Bolts were in command at halftime leading 26-0.

Thunder Basin found the end zone twice in the 3rd quarter as Hudson threw yet another TD pass, this time to Cort Catlin, plus a kickoff return for a touchdown from Jacob Wipf. Laramie did get on the board in the quarter as A.J. Sirdoreus caught a 42-yard pass from Dax Parvin for a score. The Plainsmen added a 4th quarter touchdown as Parvin found Max Alexander for a 9-yard scoring reception.

Thunder Basin finishes the regular season vs. Cheyenne South and here is the Bolts 4A playoff outline:  No. 5 seed with a win over South and Rock Springs win over Kelly Walsh; No. 6 seed with a win or loss to South and a Kelly Walsh win over Rock Springs; No. 7 seed with a loss to South and Kelly Walsh win over Rock Springs. No. 8 seed with a loss, a Central win, and a KW loss.

For Laramie, they'll need some help in order to qualify for the postseason: No. 7 seed with a win over Sheridan, Central win, and RS win; No. 8 seed with a win over Sheridan, an NC win, and KW loss; No. 8 seed with a loss to Sheridan and a Central loss to NC; eliminated with a loss to Sheridan and a Central win over NC.
