Wyoming Tracksters Have Solid Showing at 2025 Arcadia Invitational

Eight Wyoming high school track and field athletes competed at last weekend’s prestigious Arcadia Invitational. Cheyenne Central, Laramie, Sheridan, and Star Valley were represented in various events on Saturday. Four competed in open divisions, while four competed in a seeded or invitational division.

Sheridan’s Chance Morris was the only athlete from the Cowboy State who was in two of the top-tier divisions. Morris ran 10.89 seconds in the 100-meter Seeded division. He finished ninth out of nine competitors. Morris took eighth out of eight sprinters in the 200-meter Invitational division at 21.67 seconds. The winner set a meet record of 20.35 seconds.

Laramie’s Lainey Berryhill took 13th out of 48 runners in the 400-meter Open division. She crossed the finish line at 56.42 seconds. Cheyenne Central’s Kalyanna Flores was in the same race and was 43rd at 58.77 seconds.

Flynn Arnold of Laramie ran in the Invitational division of the 400 meters at 47.97 seconds. He finished seventh out of eight racers.

Star Valley’s Jase Burton had a good showing in the 3200 meters. He placed 19th out of 37 in the Invitational race. His time was 8:51.91. Burton was only six seconds out of fifth place.

Teammate Habtamu Wetzel ran in the Seeded division of the 3200 meters. The senior ran 9:32.18 and took 36th place. Star Valley’s Abigail Carillo-Zarate was 17th in the Open division of the girls’ shot put. Her best toss was 34-1.50.

The final competitor was Central’s Race Morrell. He ran in two Open Division races. Morrell placed 29th in the Open Mile at 4:20.46. He finished 42nd in the Open 800 meters at 1:59.21.

Two other Wyoming students were registered but did not compete.

Several records were set at the 57th Arcadia Invitational in California. Around 4,000 athletes were at the two-day competition. For complete results from the Arcadia Invitational, click here.
