
Sheridan Relay Team Wins National Track Title at Nike Outdoor Nationals
The Sheridan High School boys’ sprint medley relay is a national champion. The quartet of Chance Morris, Maddax Jarvis, Rudy Green, and Ryder Charest ran 3:32.41 last Friday at the Nike Outdoor Nationals track meet in Eugene, OR. They earned All-America honors with their performance in the Championship Division. The Sheridan team edged out a squad from New York by just over 0.5 seconds. That was one of the highlights from the Wyoming contingent in Eugene last weekend.
Sheridan also saw their 4x400 relay take sixth place at 3:18.18. Jarvis finished fourth in the freshman division of the 100-meter dash at 11.13 seconds.
Casper’s Landon Walker earned All-American honors with a fourth-place finish in the Championship triple jump. His best leap was 49-2.25. Walker added a 19th-place effort in the Championship long jump at 21-10.
Campbell County’s Raynor Ranum came in ninth in the Championship division of the shot put. His best toss was 59-5.75.
The best girls’ finish was from Jackson Hole in the girls’ Emerging Elite division of the 4x400 relay. They placed fourth at 4:04.79. Individually, Laramie’s Kate Lewis took 11th place in the Emerging Elite division of the hammer throw at 125-05. Casper’s Peyton Hamrick tied for 15th in the pole vault’s Emerging Elite division at 11-03.

At the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Star Valley’s Jase Burton earned all-American honors in two events. He finished seventh in the 2-mile race last Friday at 8:59.76. Burton followed that with another seventh-place effort in the 2000-meter steeplechase at 5:58.76. That was only his second race in the steeplechase.
