USMC National Wrestling Tournament Continues in Fargo
The gigantic USMC Junior and 16U National Wrestling Tournament is moving along in Fargo. So far in the boys' junior freestyle, Darron Provost of Campbell County has reached the round of 32 at 120 pounds going 2-0. Powell's Stetson Davis is in the round of 32 at 220, also going 2-0. Hunter Smith-Velarde from Lander is in the consolation round of 32 going 2-1. Kelten Crow from Sheridan went 2-2 in the 160-pound bracket as well as Brody Sorenson of Thermopolis at 170.
A number of wrestlers went 1-2 (including byes) and they are Tayce Lake of Campbell County at 113, Wyatt Weiss of Cheyenne Central at 120, Antonio Avila of Thunder Basin at 138, 160-pounder Lance Streifel of Thunder Basin at 160, Kelly Walsh's Mekhi Bovee at 195 and Moorcrofts Oliver Gorsuch at 220.
Nathan Fish from Lusk at 120, Trenton Gray of Moorcroft at 145, and Joe Conners III of Buffalo also at 145 went 0-2.
In the 16U boys' freestyle event, 3 Wyoming wrestlers reached the round of 32. Tel Perry of Star Valley at 126, 132-pounder Ashton Leegaard of Thunder Basin, and Liam Fox of Cheyenne East at 145. Those 3 guys went 2-0 to start things off. Four more grapplers from the Cowboy State made the consolation round of 32, 100-pounder Cayden Vrana of Upton, Gabe Banister of Casper at 160, William Velarde III from Lander, and 195-pounder Tyree Harris of Riverton.
Including byes, Hayden Eardley of Casper at 120, Jackson's Hunter Boss at 126, Gillette's Landon Maston at 126, and Kozad Porter of LaGrange went 2-2. 113-pounder Jeramiah Musbach of Green River, Kimball Perry of Star Valley at 113, Riverton's Brody Shepard at 113, Braxten Crow from Sheridan at 138, Keegan Rager from Sheridan at 145, Moorcroft's Riley DeHaven at 152 and Brayden Dykes from Lingle-Fort Laramie went 1-2
Brogan Dykes from Torrington at 120, 132-pounder Braydnn Terry of Moorcroft, 138-pounder Tripp Vigil from Cheyenne Central, Jaydon Walther from Green River at 152, Jackson's Carson Clapp at 160, and Riverton's Daniel Clawson at 170 all went 0-2.
The Fargo National Tournament will continue for the rest of the week.
