Changes All Around the New WyoPreps Volleyball Rankings
Two new teams at No. 1 highlighted the second and new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Volleyball Poll on Wednesday. Those two were in Class 1A and Class 3A. Four new teams entered the rankings in three of the four classes. Big Horn and Laramie retained their top spots in the latest poll. Two teams that were in the preseason poll failed to earn votes in the second rankings of the season.

The top three teams were within 12 points of each other in the 1A top five. Little Snake River pulled a slim majority of the ballots for the top spot and took over the No. 1 rankings. The Rattler received five first-place votes compared to four for preseason pick Cokeville. The Panthers slid to second. They are only six points in front of Upton. The Bobcats held onto third. Southeast also garnered a vote for first. The Cyclones were fourth, and Lingle-Ft. Laramie kept the fifth position.
In 2A, Big Horn got nine of the 13 first-place votes. Sundance won the North Big Horn County tournament and jumped from unranked to second. Wright climbed two spots up to third. Tongue River fell to fourth. Pine Bluffs started 4-0 but still fell to fifth.
Cody takes over as the new No. 1 in Class 3A. The Fillies were perfect at the Lander tournament last weekend. They received eight first-place votes. WyoPreps wonders if some voters forgot that Cody was back in 3A, as the Fillies only appeared on eight of the 12 ballots. Fresh off a title in their tournament, Douglas rose to second. The Bearcats got a pair of first-place votes. Mountain View fell to third but still earned one first-place vote. Powell moved up to fourth, and Wheatland joined the poll in fifth.
The top three did not change in Class 4A. Laramie was one vote shy of being a unanimous choice for No. 1. They picked up 14 of the 15 first-place votes after a 5-0 start. Kelly Walsh got the other vote for the top spot. The Trojans are second, and Thunder Basin remained third after their 5-0 start. Cheyenne East and Green River joined the rankings. The T-Birds were fourth, and the Wolves checked in at No. 5.
