Wyoming High School Wrestling Scoreboard: Dec. 12-14, 2024

The first weekend has a lot of action for Wyoming High School Wrestling. We open the season with eight duels, two triangulars, and a brawl hosted by Star Valley. Then, over the weekend, there are many in-state and out-of-state tournaments. Cheyenne East hosts its annual Charlie Lake Duals and Invite. Cody hosts an invite for girls wrestlers, while the boys head to either Powell or Lusk. The out-of-state competitions are highlighted by the Rapid City Invite this week.

Cheyenne East took the win in their home tournament with 159 pts and had 2 1st-placer wrestlers, Bree Padilla and Joci Davis. Gering (NE) took 2nd and Cheyenne Central was 3rd.

Lusk Tiger Invite at Lusk HS = Glenrock, H.E.M., Hulett, Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Southeast, Lusk, Saratoga, Sundance, Thunder Basin JV, Upton, Wright, Hay Springs (NE), Hemingford (NE), Newell (SD), North Park (CO), Sioux County (NE) 

The Thunder Basin JV takes 1st with 88 pts and 2 1st-place wrestlers. Glenrock was 2nd and Wright was 3rd. The Herders had 3 1st-place wrestlers, Gillian Holman, Malorey Lawrence, and Danika Harris.

Corner Canyon Cup at Corner Cayon HS in Draper, UT = Evanston, Lyman

Lyman takes 4th behind 1st-place finishes by April Sing and Kelsie Nebeker. Evanston was 6th with 2 1st-place wrestlers, Aubree Clifton and Cera Fadden. 

Rapid City Invite at Summit Arena in Rapid City, SD = Buffalo, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Worland

Sheridan sits the highest out of all Wyoming teams after Day 1 in 11th. Natrona County is 16th and Worland is 22nd. 

Warrior Women’s Tournament at Weber HS in Pleasent View, UT = Pinedale, Kemmerer 

Pinedale finished 15th and Kemmerer was 18th.

Lockwood (MT) wins the Cody Invite. Campbell County had the highest finishes of any Wyoming team in 3rd. LouAnn Bryant was the highest-placed wrestler for the Camels, she came in 2nd at 125 lbs. Shoshoni was 4th. 

Cooper D Lish Memorial at Marsh Valley HS in Arimo, ID = Big Piney, Star Valley

Team scores were not kept at this memorial. Big Piney's Kamia Runyan placed 2nd at 185 lbs. Star Valley had 5 wrestlers place 1st in their weight classes, Cashlee Hepworth, Brooke Schwab, Veil Foreman, Cara Andrews, and Hallie Robertson. 

Rapid City Invite at Summit Arena in Rapid City, SD = Buffalo, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Worland 

Sheridan placed the highest out of the 5 Wyoming teams in 11th. Becca Oetken was 1st at 235 lbs for the Broncs. Natrona County finished 19th, Worland took 28th, and Thunder Basin placed 34th. Buffalo had one wrestler at the tournament and did not place.

Star Valley took 1st place in their home brawl with a win over Cokeville, 62-12, who took 2nd.

Cheyenne East and Windsor (CO) tie for 1st place. The T-Birds had 2 1st-place wrestlers, Kozad Porter and Liam Fox. Chatfield (CO) was 3rd. Pinedale was the next top finisher from Wyoming in 6th.

Laural (MT) takes home the win from Powell with 145 pts. Thermopolis was the top team from Wyoming in 3rd. The Bobcats had 3 1st-place wrestlers in Cannon Boren, Will Ward, and Logan Dafoe.

The Punchers had 2 wrestlers place 3rd in their pools, Dominic Sanchez and Zef Zuniga. 

Corner Canyon Cup at Corner Cayon HS in Draper, UT = Evanston

Evanston placed 2nd in the 5th-place pool.

Cache Valley Cup at Green Canyon HS in North Logan, UT = Mountain View 

Mountain View placed 10th with 2 3rd-place finishes from Landon Solaas and Levi Jones. 

Rapid City Invite at Summit Arena in Rapid City, SD = Buffalo, Kelly Walsh, Thunder Basin, Worland

Kelly Walsh finishes 5th, the highest of the Wyoming teams. The Trojans were led by William Alt, who took 1st at 150 lbs. Thunder Basin finished 14th, Worland was 39th, and Buffalo did not place.
