PhotoFest! Douglas Sweeps Glenrock & Burns in 3A East Basketball
Lauren Olsen of Douglas has proven over the last 4 years or so, that she is one of the finest athletes in Wyoming High School athletics. On Saturday night, She broke the state's all-time scoring record in girls' basketball with a 31-point effort vs. Burns and 28 of those came in the first half as the Bearcats coasted to an 86-14 win. On Friday night in Glenrock, Olsen rang up 44 points and 32 of those were in the first half of play, and that resulted in another big win for the Bearcats 89-18. Right now, her point total is 2319, surpassing Tahnee Robinson of Lander who finished her prep career with 2303 points from 2002-2006.
Olsen is currently averaging 25 points a game and needless to say, she has been a scoring machine. She averaged 23 points per game in her junior year, 21 as a sophomore, and 23 per game as a freshman. Douglas is 14-1 in 2024-25 and Olsen is looking for her 4th 3A State Championship with the Cats.
The Douglas boys were also in action over the weekend with a 71-62 win over Glenrock on Friday thanks to 24 points from Denton Brown and 12 from Kaden Capp. The Herders were led in scoring by Casey Sarvey with 17. Glenrock sits at 7-7 in boys' play and Douglas is 11-4 after a win over Burns on Saturday 77-32.
