
PhotoFest! Campbell County Sweeps Thunder Basin in 4A Basketball
Conference play is heating up in the 4A East basketball world, and the Gillette schools, Thunder Basin, battled it out on Thursday night. In the boy's game, Thunder Basin came in as the #2 ranked team in our WyoPreps 4A poll, and Campbell County was #4. Campbell County held a 2-point lead at halftime, and both teams were hot from the perimeter. The Camels held on to beat the Bolts 65-62, with Campbell County getting a whopping 27 points from Truman Degrange and 20 from Lane Hladky. The Camels finished the weekend with a 65-61 win over Sheridan on Friday to improve to 7-7 overall but 5-1 in 4A East play.
Thunder Basin got 20 points from Gibby Williams on Thursday night and 19 from Karver Partlow. The Bolts dropped a 66-50 decision to Sheridan on Saturday to drop to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in league play.
In the girl's game on Thursday night, Thunder Basin assumed a 7-point lead after one-quarter of play and an 8-point lead at the intermission. Campbell County got serious on defense in the 2nd half, forcing a host of turnovers, with those turnovers turning into points. The Camels took the lead for good in the 4th quarter to win it 48-39, thanks to Kaylie Neary who contributed 21 points. Lauren Kuhbacher was in double figures with 16 while Thunder Basin was paced by Ashytn Ketchum with 19 points. Campbell County concluded the weekend with a thrilling 65-56 overtime win over Sheridan to get to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in 4A East play.
