Photofest! Wyoming-Montana Girls All-Star Basketball
The Wyoming-Montana Girls All-Star Basketball series resumed over the weekend with the first leg in Gillette on Friday and the 2nd leg in Billings. The Wyoming Girls team had gone 16 games without a win in the series, and finally posted a win in the series with an 81-75 win in Billings on Saturday.
Wins by the Wyoming girls have been rare in Billings, but Elyn Bowers of Pinedale had a solid game with defensive stops, big free throws (in fact, 9 of 10 down the stretch), and 21 points. Lauren Olsen from Douglas had 14 with Cheyenne Central's Karson Tempel chipping in 10. Ten different players scored in that game for Wyoming, who outscored Montana by 2 in the 3rd quarter and by 7 in the 4th quarter.
In Gillette on Friday, Wyoming led by one at halftime in Gillette, but Montana outscored the home team by 5 in the 3rd quarter and 7 in the 4th quarter to prevail 91-80. Ali Glasscock of Miles City had 23, and Gonzaga signee Paige Lofing from Huntley Profect tossed in 21. Wyoming was led by Jaden Meyer of Douglas with 18, Lauren Olsen with 17, and Elyn Bowers had 15. She is an Eastern Washington signee. Montana leads the series 42-14.
