Shrine Bowl Postgame Remarks: Ty Gilbertson/Sheridan
Sheridan's Ty Gilbertson had a superlative effort in Saturday's Shrine Bowl in Casper, as he kicked two field goals for the North team, along with three extra points, and had a 73-yard run for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help his team to a 34-28 win over the South.
Gilbertson ended the first half with a 51-yard field goal, which set a Shrine Bowl record. After a lengthy weather delay, he reeled off a 73-yard run for a touchdown, giving his team a 34-21 lead. His run ignited the North sideline, and what more can you ask from one player?
Gilbertson was Sheridan's quarterback, and the Broncs cruised to the 4A State Championship in 2024, and needless to say, he played a big role. Gilbertson threw 22 touchdown passes with 1740 passing yards and kicked a whopping 58 extra points. He also played basketball and soccer in his prep career.
We talked to him after the game, and what were those guys doing during a 2-hour lightning delay?
