A classic black-and-white cowboy movie that takes place in Wyoming has been colorized.

This is a very different look.

So begins the debate as to whether or not it should have been left alone.

That's okay. You can pick which one you prefer and watch it.

Here's what the 1947 movie Wyoming is about:

Charles Alderson and his wife settled in the Wyoming Territory and made friends with Thomas Jefferson "Windy" Gibson.

Tragically, Alderson's wife dies in childbirth. That leaves Charles with an infant daughter whom he sends to Europe to be educated.

During the years she is abroad, Alderson becomes a wealthy cattle baron.

It's a Wyoming story. There has to be a cattle baron. Many old Western books and movies are based on the Johnson County War.

Below is the entire movie if you wish to watch it.

The daughter, Karen, returns to Wyoming soon after the territory is granted statehood.

By this point, much of her father's property is open to homesteaders leading to tension and hostility.

Alderson's foreman Glenn Forrester, a former lawyer with whom Karen falls in love, warns Alderson against violently dealing with the homesteaders.

Duke Lassiter, a smooth operator dealing in cattle rustling, sets himself up as a spokesman for the homesteaders. He uses their fight with Alderson to further his own agenda. When Lassister murders Windy, Alderson hires a gang of outlaws to war on the homesteaders.

Below is the original movie in black and white.

An old review of the movie reads:

WYOMING's assets are vigorous action sequences--especially notable is a down and dirty fistfight between Elliott and Dekker; top caliber black and white photography by John Alton; fine villainy by Dekker.

Vintage Wyoming Movie Posters

I love walking down the hallway of a modern movie theater and looking at the old posters of vintage movies.

That got me thinking about old Westerns based on Wyoming. How many of those posters are still around?

Many are, and many are for sale online, if you want to decorate your home, or even home theater, with classic and mostly forgotten movie posters.

Most of these films were made before the era of television. Hollywood was cranking out these things as fast as they could.

The plots, the scrips, the acting, directing, and editing were SO BAD, they were good.
