There is a lot of science, and speculation that comes with that little scientist, regarding what is happing under Yellowstone.

New technology, sort of what you might expect to see in a Star Trek movie, is helping scientists see what is really going on underground.

Researchers at the University of Utah and the University of New Mexico chose over 600 locations in Yellowstone National Park to get a better understanding of the magma chamber.

“We're not talking about a giant cauldron of boiling, melted rock,” Michael Poland, scientist in charge of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, said. “A magma chamber is really a mixture of solid, liquid and gas.”

Until now scientists had no idea how all that material was distributed. Specifically, the ‘melt’ or semi-liquid material.

“Maybe it's evenly spaced throughout this large volume, it could be concentrated in a few pods here or there, we don't really know,” he said.

With this new, more modern imaging, they found that the semi-liquid material is in horizontal layers.

It also looks like there is more of it.

The more we can see what is down there, in what volume, and how it is layered and distributed, the more we can understand what might happen next.

So, are we due for THE BIG ERUPTION?

No.

The underground is still mostly solid and it would take something really big to trigger THE BIG ONE!

“So that's something that would be accompanied by extraordinary changes that we'd see at the surface in terms of earthquake activity and ground deformation, and thermal and geyser emissions, gas emissions, things like that,” he said.

The last big eruption happened about 70,000 years ago.

Despite what you have heard we are not "DUE" for another one.

Below is yet another YouTube video that hypes threats from Yellowstone that geologists are actually saying ARE NOT about to happen.

The video talks about Yellowstone being shut down but does not mention that it was a flood and had nothing to do with the volcano.

The video, which you can watch below, talks about "earthquake swarms" that have recently happened in the park.

But earthquake swarms are common in Yellowstone, most of which we never feel.

The video then goes on the claim that several quakes in the past few years have geologists worried that Yellowstone is about to wake again.

This is UTTER NONSENSE!

Here is the "clickbait" video.

The creators of the video claim:

People are scared of a number of different things, and one of those things is nature itself. The possibility of an apocalyptic event taking place on a scale that has never been witnessed before makes the eruption of Yellowstone's supervolcano one of the most dreaded events in the modern era. It appears to present one of the greatest realistic chances of wiping out the majority of life on earth and possibly leading to the extinction of the human race.  The public is exposed to a double hazard in Yellowstone, one of which is the possibility of a significant earthquake, while the other is the possibility of volcanic activity. Now, the Yellowstone National Park officials have come forward and stated that the region has been struck by more than one thousand earthquakes in less than one month. Does this indicate that a major eruption is about to take place?

Yellowstone is NOT a "SUPER VOLCANO!" Sorry to disappoint.

It is a big one. But it is not even in the top 10 biggest volcanoes on the planet.

There are others that are bigger and have scientists more worried.

While Yellowstone has provided big eruptions in the past, other volcanoes have blown much bigger, even while humanity has been here, and we survived it.

Those earthquake swarms are actually caused when water gets down into the rocks and heats up, causing pressure and making giving the rocks some lubrication to move around.

We get more swarms in the spring when snow is melting and the water is seeping down. Humans can't feel most of those tiny quakes.

Yellowstone is NOT overdue for an eruption.

Yellowstone does not erupt on a time scale. No volcano does. That's not a thing.

Yellowstone has actually been cooling down over time.

It keeps recycling its material and, for various reasons, that causes it to cool down and become less and less of a threat over time.

There are two videos full of science worth watching on this. This first one is packed with information and very entertaining to watch.

The next video was put out a few years ago.

It has less information but gets right to the point as to why all the hype about this volcano is PURE CRAP!

The next video is called:

You Don’t Need to Worry About Yellowstone (or Any Other Supervolcano).

Once again the news media and Hollywood have no idea what they are talking about yet people watch the junk they send our way and believe it. Let's stop doing that.
