125 Acres Burned In Sunday Grass Fire North Of Cheyenne

About 125 acres were burned, but no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported in a Sunday afternoon blaze off the Torrington Highway north of Cheyenne, according to the Laramie County Fire Authority.

That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page. According to the post, the blaze was reported at about 4:35 p.m.

Besides the LCFA, responding agencies included Laramie County Fire Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well as firefighters from the Air National Guard and F.E.Warren Aire Force Base.

AMR ambulance services also responded to the scene of the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The release quotes Fire Chief Jason Caughey as saying the fire should serve as a reminder to take steps to protect your property, including mowing your grass and removing flammable materials.

The Fire Was The Latest In A Series Of Grass Fires In Laramie County

The 134 fire, as it has been labeled, is only the latest in a series of early-season grass fires in Laramie County.

The largest of those blazes, the March 1 Happy Jack Fire, torched over 6,600 acres and forced the evacuation of several subdivisions.

The high fire danger prompted the Laramie County Commission to impose fire restrictions on March 6.
