UPDATE 11:30 a.m. May 8: The Albany County Sheriff's Office released more details on a Tuesday afternoon incident that prompted issuing a Public Safety Alert.

The details include the name of the fleeing suspect from Colorado who prompted the alert and who was found dead in an apparent suicide.

The alert was issued late Tuesday afternoon for Happy Jack Road from Forest Service Road 712 to Forest Service Road 106.  The sheriff's office yesterday said the alert was issued as law enforcement worked to capture a suspect who had fled Weld County, Colorado, and who was believed to be connected to a homicide possibly.

On Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office identified the fleeing suspect as Joseph Mladenik. Mladenik had traveled through Laramie County and made his way into Albany County by Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcement had received reports that Mladenick was armed and dangerous, in addition to having made suicidal statements. The car he was driving was found disabled near Forest Service Road 701. He was believed to be in a rock formation in Veadauwoo.

Law enforcement created a perimeter around the area where Mladenick was believed to be. A drone was used to find the suspect, who took his own life.

The safety alert was then lifted, and the sheriff's office says there is no longer a public safety threat to the public related to the case.

UPDATE: The Albany County Sheriff's Office says a fleeing suspect who was wanted in connection with a possible homicide in Weld County took their own life near Happy Jack Road on Tuesday afternoon.

That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.

Albany County law enforcement had been alerted to the suspect's presence after the suspect had gotten away from Laramie County law enforcement.  The Albany County Sheriff's Office, Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie Fire/EMS, and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office were deployed to the Happy Jack Area around FS Road 701.

The suspect had been considered armed and dangerous, and the sheriff's office had issued a public safety alert for Happy Jack Road in the area of Forest Service Road 701 prior to finding the suspect dead.

.Searchers inittially had information the suspect was hiding in a rock formation. A drone soon located the subject, who was found dead.

The agency says more nformation will be relased on the incident.

UPDATE: The sheriff's office has lifted the alert. The agency says it will be issuing a news release soon,

At this time, the Albany County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to please stay out of the area of Happy Jack Road Hwy 210 from Forest Service Road 712 to Forest Service Road 106. There is a heavy law enforcement presence as there is an active situation that affects the public's safety. Please be advised that law enforcement is doing everything in their power to keep the safety of our community. Use alternative routes if traveling.

3:53 p.m. Update

At 3:53 p.m. the sheriff's office updated the alert to say that it was still in effect. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
