Burns Man Accused of Physically Injuring Child
A 45-year-old Burns man is facing 10 years in prison after allegedly committing child abuse.
Felony Warrant
According to a booking sheet, a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy arrested Jacob Anthony Garcia at Meadow Dove Lane and Antelope Meadows Drive in Burns at 4:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Garcia was being sought on a warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court for child abuse, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Judge Antoinette Williams reportedly signed the warrant on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
It's alleged that on or between Sept. 1, 2025, to Jan. 21, 2026, Garcia, a person responsible for the child's welfare, intentionally or recklessly inflicted physical injury upon the child, who was under the age of 18.
Initial Court Appearance
On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Garcia was seen in Circuit Court in front of Williams on the charge.
Williams set his preliminary hearing for Friday, Feb. 27, at 9 a.m., then asked for the state's position regarding bond.
"In light of the type of allegations that are before the court today, the state would recommend a $25,000 cash bond," it said.
"He's got a full-time job as a lineman and he's the sole supporter for a wife and two children," Garcia's attorney said. "He doesn't appear to be a flight risk."
"There's no evidence that he's a risk to the greater community, nothing to say that he'd continue being a threat to the alleged victim, and any threat that he might be, could be mitigated by bond conditions," Garcia's attorney added. "So, I'd ask for $5,000 signature and if the court's unwilling to do that then I'd ask for cash or surety to that amount."
Bond Set at $15,000 Cash or Surety
"The court's going to set bond at $15,000 cash or surety," Williams told Garcia. "If you post that, I'll set bond conditions."
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
