There has been a fair amount of discussion on local social media pages about what you can buy at Cheyenne Frontier Days with cash and what purchases can only be made with a debit/credit card.

We've been watching the discussions with interest, and a lot of the the answers are contradictory. Obviously they can't all be right.

So we put the question to CFD spokeswoman Nicole Gamst. Here is what she told us via email:

''Ticket Office, Souvenir Program and Parking are cashless.

Vendors and food and drink are cash and card.""

We hope that clears up the confusion.

THURSDAY'S Grand Parade

Our carriage collection paints a very rare picture of what Cheyenne looked like over 150 years ago.

·

·     VOLUNTEERS: Hundreds of volunteers ride in historic CFD carriages wearing costumes. A group of volunteers called W-Heels, stage the carriages and maintain the over 1,500 costumes in the collection. Wagon Doctors are volunteers who repair and restore the many carriages in the parades.

·     CARRIAGES: CFD has one of the largest collections of working carriages in the nation. CFD parades started back in 1925. Soon after people started donating their carriages to CFD. Many are used in the parade and are on display at the Old West Museum.

Challenge Rodeo

The Coca-Cola Foundation and CFD Buckle Club sponsor this opportunity for students with disabilities to experience rodeo activities. Each of the children are paired up with a specially selected volunteer “buddy.” The children share one-on-one attention with their buddy and a rodeo V.I.P. while participating in modified rodeo events. V.I.P.s such as PRCA cowboys, clowns, barrel racers, Dandies, committee chairmen, and others, assist the children in the events which include 8-second bull rides, barrel racing, steer roping and more. Each contestant wears an official T-shirt, cowboy hat, and contestant back tag. They also receive a Challenge Rodeo drawstring bag and special recognition from the announcer when the Challenge Rodeo All-Around Champion Buckles are awarded.

Backroad Up The Bighorns

There are many ways to explore the Bighorn Mountain.

Not all of the backroads are dangerous.

Some are of good quality, and have the best views you'll ever see.
