$100K Cash Bond Set for Cheyenne Man Charged in Child Porn Case

A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing five felony charges after he was allegedly caught with child pornography.

According to a booking sheet, at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, a detective with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office arrested Alfredo Isaac Najera on a warrant.

The warrant was for five counts of sexual exploitation of children, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

Laramie County Circuit Court Judge TJ Forwood signed the warrant on Monday, July 28.

Najera was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on his warrant.

Initial Court Appearance

The following afternoon, July 31, Najera was seen in front of Forwood on the charges, which allege that on or about March 15 and 16, Najera possessed five videos of tween girls engaged in explicit sexual conduct -- one of a 10-year-old, one of an 11- to 12-year-old in the bathtub, one of a 10-year-old lying down exposing her vagina to the camera, one of an 11-year-old lying down exposing her vagina to the camera, and one of an 11-year-old exposing her vagina to the camera.

Forwood appointed Najera a public defender and asked the state for recommendation on bond.

"Due to the nature of this crime and the length of time that Mr. Najera is facing, the state believes that a $100,000 cash bond would be appropriate in this matter for the safety of the community to ensure he complies with the orders of this court," the state told the court.

Bond Set at $100K Cash

Najera asked for a surety bond so he could continue to help support his mother, but Forwood set his bond at $100,000 cash and told him, "You are not allowed to have contact with any minors."

Najera's next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m.
