Poll: What Is The Biggest Problem Facing Cheyenne In 2026?
We recently went on Facebook to ask people about the biggest problem facing Cheyenne in 2026.
We got over 200 responses, and obviously we can't list every single perceived problem in a poll. Some people cited several issues.
But there were some common themes that came up over and over.
You Tell Us? Is It Crime? Taxes? Housing? Something Else
Wages, the cost of living and new taxes and fees were a common gripe. One reader wrote "Wages haven't kept pace with inflation. People are struggling to maintain their way of life. And yet there are those who keep demanding that the government provide more and more of those facets of living that are not within the government's purview."
Along the same lines there were several mentions of the planned storm water fee, which has been put on hold for now. For the poll we rolled all of that into one general category, taxes and fees.
Crime got a lot of comment as well. One person simply wrote "Young people shooting each other." Another reader wrote "Crime starting to have Denver ghetto issues."
Drugs haven't gone away either, "The amount of people on highly addictive drugs and the crime that results with it!!" was one comment among many on that topic
We knew housing would come up, and it did repeatedly. Property taxes? Roger on that, a lot in fact.
And a lot of people think Cheyenne has gone a little overboard on data centers and are concerned about the amount of resources they consume. Some folks are afraid they will see the results in their utility bills.
So what do you think is the biggest Issue facing the city? Take our poll and give us your opinion!
