Suspected DUI Lands Cheyenne Man in Hot Water
A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a handful of charges after he was reportedly caught driving high.
Traffic Stop Leads to DUI, Felony Drug Possession Charges
According to a booking sheet, Justin Walker Resler was arrested at 8:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy pulled him over at Hi Market at 215 E. Lincolnway.

The deputy says while speaking with Resler at the driver's side door of his vehicle, they observed indicators of him being under the influence of a controlled substance.
It's alleged that Resler possessed marijuana and psilocybin, and that if convicted, it would be at least his third conviction with previous convictions on April 12, 2018; July 6, 2020; and March 4, 2024.
Resler was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense, both felonies punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.
He was also charged with three misdemeanors, including DUI, expired or improper registration, and proof of liability insurance.
Initial Court Appearance
On Friday, Jan. 16, Resler was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charges.
Chambers appointed Resler a public defender and set his preliminary hearing for Friday, Jan. 23, at 9:45 a.m.
Chambers then asked for the state's bond recommendation.
"He has failures to appear in 2019, 2020. While on probation for an amphetamine-related charge ... in 2023, he did have a leaving the scene of an accident - duty upon striking highway fixtures. Also, he pled guilty to the duty upon striking. And there'd also been, as noted I believe inside the affidavit, a history of drug-related offenses that go back to actually 2020 inside this, but inside the NCIC it indicates it actually goes back to even further, so 2018," the state said.
"Given the frequency of use, the charges here, his failures to appear, and what had been alleged in other jurisdictions and his lack of ties here, the state would ask for a $5,000 cash bond," the state added.
Bond Set at $5K Cash
"I'm going to set your bond at $5,000 cash," Chambers told Resler.
As part of his bond conditions, Chambers ordered that Resler undergo twice weekly testing at the Drug Testing Center of Cheyenne for both drugs and alcohol.
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
