It's not unusual for Cheyenne Day at Cheyenne Frontier Days to draw the biggest crowd for the CFD pancake breakfasts, and that trend may have been on display again on Wednesday.

Monday's crowd seemed a little small, with short waiting lines and fewer people in evidence. That was borne out by the official breakfast count of 4,443 breakfasts served, a relatively low number for the free breakfasts. But on Wednesday that number took a sizable jump to 7,093 people, a more typical count for the event.

Monday was also unusual in that the waiting line to get into the breakfast was almost non-existent.  The waiting line usually reaches for a couple of blocks or more.

Cheyenne Day Usually Brings Out The Crowd

The situation on Wednesday, Cheyenne Day, was quite different with the more typical long lines [see above photo] gathering. Many Cheyenne residents have the day off on Cheyenne day, with local businesses and governmental offices closed or opening for only a few hours.

Denise Newell, the 2025 CFD Pancake Breakfast Chair, confirmed that trend on Wednesday, saying "Wednesday is usually much .larger than Monday...I think a lot of people forget about it on Monday...the other thing is that Wednesday is typically a day when people don't go to work. We get a lot more locals, and we still have a lot of people from out of town."

Governor Mark Gordon and Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins as well as members of the Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team attended the breakfast on Wednesday.

The final CFD Pancake breakfast of 2025 will be held on Friday from 7-9 a.m. at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza
