According to police, Jadan Micah Orr and several friends had been drinking alcohol at an apartment at Sundance Apartments at 215 Walterscheid Blvd. for most of the night when, at about 3:30 a.m., Orr went into a bedroom with two friends.

Police say at some point, Orr picked up an AK-47 and while manipulating it, charged it and fired it through the wall into the living room, striking the victim in the torso.
Police arrived to find several people in front of the apartment building attempting to render medical aid to the victim, who died at the scene.
Orr was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for voluntary manslaughter, but later charged with involuntary manslaughter, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Initial Court Appearance
On Tuesday, Orr was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charge.
Williams appointed Orr a public defender and asked for the state's position regarding bond.
"While the state recognizes that Mr. Orr has minimal criminal history, the nature of the charge certainly gives that state concern for the safety of the community, especially in light of a firearm and alcohol being involved and the blatant senselessness of this act," the state said. "For those reasons the state believes that a cash bond is appropriate and would request $500,000 cash."
Bond Set at $500K Cash
Williams set Orr's bond at $500,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was set for Monday, Aug. 25, at 10:30 a.m.
