A 29-year-old Minatare, Nebraska man is facing a felony charge in Laramie County after allegedly committing theft.

According to a booking sheet, police arrested Levi Pieper at East 13th Street and Platte Avenue in Cheyenne at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Pieper was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with felony theft, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearance

The following afternoon, Aug. 29, Pieper was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charge.

Chambers appointed Pieper a public defender and asked for the state's bond recommendation.

"Mr. Pieper has a significant criminal history, most notably a contempt in 2016, a failure to appear in 2021, as well as another failure to appear in 2021 stemming from a theft charge," the state said. "The state would recommend a $2,000 cash bond."
