What The Survey Said About Cheyenne

The website's comments on Cheyenne included the following: ''n addition to rich history and outdoor beauty, residents also benefit from a cost of living and housing that’s lower than average, as well as no state income tax. Cheyenne offers a small-town atmosphere with urban amenities, making it the best of both worlds and putting it on the list for the second year in a row.''

The entry also praises Cheyenne for it's rural feel, including a "lack of skyscrapers" and its downtown shops and businesses. It mentions the city's geographic location , saying ''there’s no shortage of outdoor activities and wildlife, whether that be bears or bison; you can see them up close at Terry Bison Ranch.''

Cheyenne was the only Wyoming community to make the list.  Lafayette, Colorado, about 90 miles away made the list at #7. Among other communities in neighboring states, Bozeman, Montana (#26) and Sioux Falls, South Dakota (#42) made the rankings.
