Cheyenne Man Gets 6.25 Years in Prison for Trafficking Fentanyl
A 40-year-old Cheyenne man who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl has been sentenced to 6.25 years in federal prison, the United States Attorney's Office says.
According to arrest records, Michael Guzman and Ashley Hyatt were arrested on May 18 after Laramie County Sheriff's deputies stopped Hyatt for speeding on Interstate 25 south of Cheyenne.
U.S. Attorney's Office spokeswoman Lori Hogan says the traffic stop led to the discovery of more than 60 grams of fentanyl.
She says a review of Guzman’s cellphone also revealed text messages showing he was selling fentanyl.
Hyatt, who was indicted in May and pled guilty in July, was sentenced earlier this month to 65 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl.
