Cheyenne Day Of Giving Slated For This Friday, May 8
A long-time Cheyenne tradition resumes this Friday with the annual ''Day of Giving" at the Kiwanis Community House at Lions Park.
The event is scheduled for this Friday, May 8 from 8 am to 4 p.m. A youth event will be held on Thursday May 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., also at the Community House.
This will be the first time the event has been held without founder Greta Morrow, who passed away in 2025.
The Day of Giving grew out of Morrow's experiences as a cancer patient many years ago. Morrow said those experiences taught her the importance of people in the community helping each other by doing what they can. In an interview last year, she told us that she saw it as a "community-wide effort ease the struggles of those who are in dire financial straits or struggling with illness or disability. Our drive-by-drop-off option makes it convenient for donors with busy schedules to help ease the struggles of those in our area who need so much help."
This year will be the 21st year for the event.
What Organizations Does It Help Fund?
The event donates to a long list of local charities, including Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne, Comea House, Family Promise of Cheyenne, Habitat for Humanity’s Fresh Start Program, Life Choice Pregnancy Care Center, Magic City Enterprises, Needs Inc., Recover Wyoming, St. Joseph’s Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Safehouse Services, Unaccompanied Students Initiative, and Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless.
