Traffic Stop Leads to Meth, Stolen Gun

The sergeant pulled the truck over, approached the passenger side, and reportedly saw the passenger, Trisha Sue Hensley, holding a metal tube commonly known to be used in consuming controlled substances and a torch in the center console.

The driver and Hensley were ordered out of the truck, and while Hensley was exiting, the sergeant says he saw orange syringe caps, looked within the door panel, and saw a syringe with a residual crystal substance inside.

The sergeant then searched the truck and reportedly found methamphetamine and a gun in Hensley's purse and loose methamphetamine inside the door handle where she was sitting.

The sergeant says the gun was reported stolen out of Colorado, and a check of Hensley's criminal history revealed that she's a convicted nonviolent felon.

Meth Inside Her Underwear

Hensley was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center where she was strip-searched and reportedly found to have a large amount of methamphetamine inside her underwear.

The sergeant says Hensley was advised several times that if she were to bring controlled substances into the jail it would be a felony and she said she understood.

Hensley Charged With 3 Felonies, 1 Misdemeanor

Hensley was subsequently charged with three felonies, including theft, taking a controlled substance into jail, and possession of methamphetamine.

She was also charged with nonviolent felon in possession of a firearm, a misdemeanor.

Bond Set at $10K Cash

Hensley made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Nov. 6, during which her bond was set at $10,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
