AirTag Leads Laramie County Deputies to Drug-Toting Bicycle Thief
A 48-year-old Cheyenne man is facing charges after Laramie County Sheriff's deputies reportedly caught him with a stolen bicycle and drugs.
According to Sheriff Brian Kozak, deputies were called to a home on Prosser Road in the early morning hours of Friday, May 30, after "a guy woke up ... went outside, and saw that his $1,100 bicycle was missing."

"One of the first things they checked was the doorbell camera and they realized that Michael Evans most likely took the bicycle," Kozak said Monday in his Sheriff's Update.
AirTag Leads to Stolen Bicycle, Meth, and Magic Mushrooms
Kozak says deputies began looking for Evans, but it wasn't too difficult of a job because the victim had put an AirTag on his bicycle, a compact Apple-developed Bluetooth tracking device that helps iPhone users find lost items.
"The victim was able to drag deputies into the exact location where Mr. Evans was," said Kozak. "When Evans saw the deputies' cars in the area he tried to hide behind a bush with the bicycle, but guess what folks, the AirTag works behind the bush."
"(Deputies) arrested him, gave the bicycle back to the owner, and booked him into the jail, and in his hoodie, he had methamphetamine and some magic mushrooms," Kozak added. "So, his sweet trip that he had turned out to be not so sweet after all."
Evans Booked on Felony Theft, Drug Possession Charges
Evans was booked for felony theft, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both, and two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
"Mr. Evans ... when you get out of jail and you want to continue to use magic mushrooms, you know Denver has decriminalized magic mushrooms," said Kozak. "So, go there, and I would recommend you get a job and pay for your stuff instead of taking other people's stuff."
