Cheyenne Man Charged With Felony Stalking
A 20-year-old Cheyenne man out on bond after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend back in May is now facing a felony stalking charge.
According to a booking sheet, a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was called to a report of a protection order violation at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29.
Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered Mitchell Clayton Ammons violated an order of protection signed by Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Antoinette Williams on May 10, 2024, by contacting the respondent of the protection order.
The deputy says Ammons later admitted to the crime during an interview at the Sheriff's Office.
Ammons was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and later charged with violation of domestic violence order of protection, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in prison, up to a $750 fine, or both, and felony stalking, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Ammons Served With Warrant
Due to the new charges, Ammons at 5:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 was served in jail with a warrant signed by Laramie County District Court Judge Catherine Rogers for failing to comply with his bond conditions on an original charge of aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant woman.
