A 40-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing a felony charge after reportedly getting into a verbal argument with her son and then going after him with a knife.

According to a booking sheet, a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to Big Country at 3400 S. Greeley Hwy. at 7:52 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, and spoke with the suspect, Nicole Alexis Gillispie.

The deputy says Gillispie was seen by American Medical Response after she said she had been strangled.

Verbal Argument Leads to Aggravated Assault Charge

The deputy says during his investigation, it was discovered Gillispie and one of her sons had been in a verbal argument because Gillispie had been drinking alcohol.

During the argument, Gillispie reportedly walked quickly toward her son with a knife in her hand, with the blade portion by her thumb and index finger.

Her son reportedly said something to the effect of she's going to stab me, which was heard by Gillispie's daughter.

Gillispie then reportedly walked toward her other son's room with the knife still in her hand.

The deputy says he thought if his mother got into his room, she was going to hurt him as well.

Gillispie was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.

Gillispie was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Bond Set at $5K at 10%

Gillispie made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday, Dec. 2, during which her bond was set at $5,000 at 10% and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
