A 59-year-old Cheyenne woman has been charged with felony forgery after calling the police only to be arrested by them.

According to a booking sheet, Aruna Lewis was arrested at the Flying J Travel Center at 2250 Etchepare Dr. at 11:49 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, after reporting a trespasser.

Police say Lewis had a warrant out of Laramie County for felony forgery-utter, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

Circuit Court Judge Sean C. Chambers signed the warrant on Nov. 27, 2024.

After dealing with the trespasser, police handcuffed Lewis and took her to the Laramie County Detention Center, where she was booked on her warrant.

Bond Set at $2K Cash

Lewis made her initial appearance in Circuit Court on Monday, Dec. 9, during which her bond was set at $2,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m.
