The crash happened around 6:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at milepost 163.05 on U.S. 20/Wyoming 789.

According to a fatality crash summary, Wyoming resident Jack Whittaker and Arizona resident William Jamieson were headed north in a Jeep Renegade, negotiating a right-hand curve, when the Jeep drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado near the southbound fog line.

Jeep Rolls, Catches Fire

"The Renegade rolled 1/2 time into the southbound right of way, onto its roof, and caught fire," the summary reads.

Sadly, Whittaker and Jamieson didn't survive the crash. It's unknown if they were buckled up and which one of them was driving.

The driver of the pickup and a passenger were also reportedly injured in the crash, but the summary doesn't say to what extent.

Speed Possibly to Blame

The summary lists speed as a possible contributing factor.

Whittaker and Jamieson are the fifth and sixth reported people to die on Wyoming's highways this year.
