Official statistics show that 2,753 people died in the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Another 184 people died at the Pentagon, and 44 people died in the crash of American Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
As most people know, it was far and away the deadliest act of terrorism on American soil, the reverberations of which are being felt in the United States to this day.
