
Laramie County Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Are In Effect
Laramie County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to impose Stage 1 fire restrictions in response to an extremely high fire danger.
The restrictions took effect at 8 a.m. this morning [March 18, 2026].
The resolution bans open fires or fireworks on public or private lands within Laramie County
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions/Exemptions
A-Discharge of fireworks is prohibited in unimproved areas
B-Campfires at residences or campsites within a fire ring centered within a fire ring centered within a 1.5 cleared radius of burnable materials
C-Trash or refuse fires between the hours of 6: p.m. and 8 a.m. inside containers provided with spark arrestors and located within a cleared radius of 15 feet of burnable materials
D-Charcoal grills within enclosed grills are permitted,
E-Use of acetylene cutting torches, electric arc welders or metal grinding in a cleared radius of 15 feet of burnable materials are permitted.
F-The use of portable stoves, lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum, pressurized liquid fuel, or fully enclosed (sheepherder) stove, and open fire branding activities in a cleared radius of15 feet of burnable materials is permitted.
Exempted from the restrictions:
-Federal, state or local officers engaged in fire, emergency and law enforcement activities
-any member of rescue or firefighter force engaged in performance of their duties
-people with written exceptions issued by the "appropriate jurisdictional entity,"
The restrictions were advised by the County Fire Warden
Meanwhile, the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has posted a Red Flag Warning for extreme fire danger for much of southeast Wyoming:
