LCSO Now Offering $5K Sign-On Bonus for Detention Deputies
The Laramie County Sheriff's Office is now offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for those who want to become a detention deputy, the department announced Friday.
The Laramie County Board of Commissioners authorized the hiring bonus during its meeting on Tuesday, March 7.
According to the resolution, 60% will be paid upon hire and paid on the first paycheck, 20% will be paid upon successful completion of the FTO training program and the academy, and 20% will be paid upon successful completion of the probationary period.
"The starting pay for someone with no experience, when you add in holiday pay and briefing time totals up to around $62,000 a year," the LCSO said in a news release. "Applicants with prior experience can start out making a total of almost $74,000 a year."
The LCSO says the minimum age to apply to be a detention deputy is 18 years of age, and if an 18-year-old is hired they can retire at age 38.
