NWS Cheyenne: Near-Daily Chance of Snow, Dropping Temps This Week

Southeast Wyoming, especially areas west of Interstate 25, will see near-daily chances for light snowfall over the next five days, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says.

"Today will be the warmest day this week with temperatures dropping off daily," the NWS said.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday for the Sierra Madre and Snowy Ranges, with total snow accumulations of one to two feet expected in the Sierra Madres and 10 to 18 inches expected in the Snowies and winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

"Travel will be very difficult to impossible," the NWS said. "Blowing snow will reduce visibility. Hikers and snowmobilers may easily become disoriented and lost due to the very poor visibility."

  of 12 to 24 inches for the Sierra Madre Range. Total snow
  accumulations of 10 to 18 inches for the Snowy Range. Winds
  gusting as high as 60 MPH.

* WHEN...Until 5 PM MST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Falling
  and blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Hikers

your vehicle in case of an emergency.

As of 10:19 a.m. Monday, eastbound Interstate 80 was closed from Rock Springs to Rawlins and both lanes were closed between Rawlins and Laramie due to winter conditions.
