Accumulating and blowing snow, strong winds, and cold temperatures will cause significant impacts across southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle late this afternoon through early Thursday morning, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says.

Snow totals continue to fluctuate, but it looks like most of the region will see six-plus inches of snow.

Snow will start late this afternoon and increase in coverage and intensity through the evening and overnight hours. Snow will spread across all areas Wednesday morning through the afternoon. Highest snowfall amounts and in combination with high winds will result in blizzard conditions in Carbon County. Pockets of 8-12" of snow across the High Plains of WY to northern NE Panhandle. Less snow farther south and east towards the WY/CO/NE border but drifting and blowing snow will still be a travel and impact concern.

"Lingering travel impacts could last as long as Thursday across many portions of the region and even Friday for portions of I-80 west of Laramie to Rawlins," the NWS said in an email early Tuesday afternoon.
