The Laramie County Commission will hold a meeting on Saturday, December 6, to choose one of three candidates to fill a vacant Wyoming House District 10 seat which had been held by Representative John Eklund.

Eklund recently passed away. The rest of the term runs through 2026, including a Budget Session of the Wyoming Legislature which is slated for February.

County Republican Party Central Committee Nominated Three Candidates

The Laramie County Republican Party Central Committee forwarded three candidates to fill the seat. They are Sharon Fain, Justin Fornstrom, and Ron Rabou.

A joint statement from the county commission included the following:“Representative Eklund leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of service, integrity, and dedication to the people of Eastern Laramie County,” the Commissioners said in a joint statement. “The individual selected will have significant shoes to fill, and we are committed to a fair, transparent process worthy of that responsibility.”

The meeting will get underway at 3:30 p.m.in the commissioners Board Room on the Third Floor of the Laramie County Governmental Complex.

The meeting will be open to the public. Each of the three candidates will be interviewed by commissioners in a public session. Once the interviews are finished, the commissioners will discuss the decision and announce who they have chosen.

The successful candidate will then be appointed to the seat.
