Study Ranks Wyoming as 40th Best Economy in Nation

A survey by the financial website Wallethub says Wyoming only has the 40th best economy among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

You can see the survey here. The survey ranked states in three different categories: economic activity, economic health, and innovation potential.

The survey ranked Wyoming 39th for economic activity, 22nd for economic health, and 38th for innovation potential. Wallethub explained it's methodology in evaluating those categories:

We evaluated those dimensions using 28 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest economic performance.

We then determined each state and the District’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank-order our sample.
