Cheyenne Frontier Days has helped many a cowboy or cowgirl win recognition and awards.

It no doubt has helped more than one musical performer make some money and win new fans.

But the ''Daddy of 'em All" also played a role in the history of a well known fast-food chain.

Taco Johns Started Out Selling Tacos From  A Trailer

Taco Johns started out at Cheyenne Frontier Days in 1968, according to former CEO JIm Creel in a 2019 in a 2019 interview with Townsquare Media's Glenn Woods on the 'Wake Up Wyoming'' program.

Creel says it all started when John Turner started out selling tacos from a trailer, calling the business ''Taco House." The business made its debut at Cheyenne Frontier Days of 1968.

Creel says up until the mid 1970s Turner continued selling tacos from trailers set up on foundations. Creel told Woods they started selling from permanent buildings in the mid-1970s.

The ''Taco House'' name was changed to ''Taco Johns" in 1969.. It currently has over 350 outlets in 23 states.

The eatery recently took top honors in a USA Today poll of America's best tacos for it's ''Taco Bravo." That entry took the national newspaper's "Reader's Choice" award, selected as the best fast food taco. It beat out competition from chains such as Taco Bell and Del Taco for that recognition.
