Wanted Cheyenne Man Caught Kicking Open Door, Beating Female
A wanted Cheyenne man is facing a handful of charges after allegedly kicking open the door of a home and beating a female.
According to a booking sheet, police were conducting surveillance around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, when they observed 31-year-old Austin Ray Jackie Bennett, who they knew to have a warrant for felony theft, walk up to a home and knock on the door.
Police say Bennett then kicked the door, then kicked open the door, causing damage and breaking the door.
Bennett then reportedly went inside and got into a fight with a female occupant.
Police say Bennett pushed her to the ground, punched her in the back of the head, and then repeatedly slammed her face into the ground.
Bennett then started walking away and police contacted him and arrested him on the warrant as well as charges of unlawful entry into an occupied structure, domestic battery, and property destruction.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Tuesday morning, during which he was informed of the charges against him.
His total bond was set at $7,000 cash -- $2,000 for the warrant and $5,000 for the other three charges -- and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m.
