Study Says Wyoming Fifth Best State For Disabled Vets

A new study by Smilehub rates Wyoming the fifth best state in the country for disabled veterans.

The study found Florida was the best state, followed by Virginia, Texas and New Hampshire. Delware, Vermont and Mississippi were rated the worst states.

Wyoming Scored Second Best For Diabled Vets In Poverty

Wyoming scored second best in the nation for the fewest vets living in poverty. The Cowboy State also was in the top 10 for VA Health Facilities per Veteran and Total VA Spending per Veteran:

According to a news release;"The data set ranges from the number of veterans charities per capita to the presence of a state tax on military pensions to the number of Veterans Affairs health facilities per capita."

The Smilehub website explains the methadology this way:

In order to determine the best states for disabled veterans, SmileHub compared the 50 states across three key dimensions: 1) Health & Rehabilitation Access, 2) Infrastructure & Community Support and 3) Economic Stability & Long-Term Security.

We evaluated those dimensions using 22 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of support for disabled veterans. For metrics marked with an asterisk (*), the square root of the population was used to calculate the population size in order to avoid overcompensating for population differences across states.
