A man serving a life sentence for murder at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington has died.

According to a news release from the Wyoming Department of Corrections, Richard Vincent Edwards died at the prison Thursday, April 6. He was 79.

Per department policy, an autopsy will be conducted to determine Edwards' cause of death.

Edwards was convicted of second-degree murder in Uinta County and sentenced to life on Oct. 13, 1997. He was born in Pasco, Washington.
