Join Fundraiser For Veteran Suicide Prevention April 27th In Cheyenne
Veterans make up only 10 percent of the American population, but they account for nearly one in five of all suicides.
Cheyenne's Operation Zero will be holding a fundraiser Saturday, April 27th at AMVETS Post 10 in Cheyenne Wyoming. The money raised goes to veteran suicide prevention in Wyoming. This is also an opportunity to meet and make friends with those who might be in the same situation.
The event will host billiards matches, card games, and much more. Make sure to thank a vet while you are there.
Suicides have become the leading cause of death for the military. More than car crashes and combat. The numbers are not getting better. In the past 17, years the number of military veterans suicides have steadily climbed.
So what can be done to help a veteran who is suffering months, sometimes decades, after seeing combat?
The buddy system works best. Help from professionals might be next, or just hanging out with people who know what you are going through.
