Man Sentenced for Role in Burglary

A man who admitted to his role in a 2015 burglary was sentenced to prison Monday in Albany County District Court.

Judge Jeffrey Donnell sentenced 28-year-old Christopher John White to four to nine years in prison with credit for time served. White will also have to pay $335 in restitution, $250 to the Division of Victim Services and write an apology letter to the victim within 10 days.

White previously pleaded guilty to one count of accessory to burglary for his role in the May 23, 2015 burglary of a Laramie home in which a laptop, charging cord and gas can were reported stolen.

White was arrested along with Timothy Gaffield after witnesses reported a suspect vehicle to the Laramie Police Department and an officer stopped the vehicle, with White and Gaffield inside, near the Ramada Inn. Gaffield is set to be sentenced June 17.

Donnell noted Monday that White has been in the criminal justice system since he was 15 years old. This latest crime marks his fourth felony conviction.

White asked the court for placement in an Adult Community Corrections facility, which Donnell said had been attempted previously to no avail.

"Almost everything that's been suggested by you, Mr. White, has been done before," said Donnell.

"You need to go away. You can't be on the street," said Donnell. "We're at that point."
