By the time the 2019 iHeartradio Music Awards worked up to their most-anticipated honor of the night, Song of the Year, Maren Morris—who would claim the award with Zedd and Grey, for "The Middle"—had already seen the hit win for Dance Song. She'd also had a huge moment on stage with Taylor Swift, embracing her friend in a photo that burned up social media at an extraordinary rate.

That said, poor Morris had a distinctly whomp-whomp moment when accepting the award during what should have been the best bit of the evening.

Things went south first when iconic rocker and American Idol alum Steven Tyler took the stage to announce the award. He started out just fine: "A genius songwriter person is someone who aims at something no one else can see and hits it. Then out of nowhere, that tune comes along and grabs you by the... ears!" he joked.

Tyler gamely ripped the envelope open, taking care not to drop the trophy he was holding, and announced that "The Middle" had won the award. The veteran superstar, however, mispronounced Morris' first name, calling her "MAH-ren."

Morris did not seem visibly fazed by this little gaffe, giving Tyler a warm hug before taking the mic. But she was to be further slighted as she began to give her speech.

"Oh my God, this is so cool, thank you so much iHeart," enthused Morris...only to be abruptly cut off by the telecast. We'll never know what Zedd had to say, either, we guess!

Morris likely wasn't too put out by the night overall, given the honors bestowed. "Unreal," was the apt description given by Zedd on social media:
