Rock River Hosts Events To Benefit Fire Department
The town of Rock River is the place to be this weekend with several events taking place to benefit the Rock River Volunteer Fire Department.
The day of events on Saturday, August 22, 2015 features a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, 3-on-3 volleyball tournament, mud bog competition, and the annual Firemens Ball.
The day begins with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a 3-on-3 volleyball tournament, both taking place at the Rock River Park. The competitions both begin with sign-ups at 9:30 a.m. Entry costs $15 per team. Up to four people can be on a team, and there are no gender requirements for participants. First and second place winners will receive a cash prize.
Next on the agenda is a mud bog competition beginning at 1 p.m. Signs will be posted throughout the town of Rock River to direct people of how to get to the event. Those wishing to participate can show up to the event and enter through the participant’s line. Entry for participants is $40. Spectators can watch the competition for an $8 entry fee.
The annual Firemens Ball kicks off with dinner at 5 p.m. at the Rock River Firehouse. The meal costs $10 for adults and $7 for seniors. After the dinner, an auction will take place from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
The dance portion of the Firemens Ball takes place at the firehouse from 8:30 p.m. until midnight.
Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit the Rock River Volunteer Fire Department.
