Steel Magnolia – Joshua Scott Jones Enters Rehab

Joshua Scott Jones used the duo’s official website to announce to Steel Magnolia’s fans and the world that he has chosen to enter rehab for treatment relating to alcohol and substance abuse.

Quoting from the release:

"God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse,"

Meghan Linsey, Jones’ girlfriend and singing partner had already announced about a week ago that the duo would have to cancel a number of shows because Jones was “unable to perform”. At the time, no specific reason was given. Meghan then began to playing scheduled dates for the group alone.

Steel Magnolia has been very successful in their country career. They released their self-titled debut album earlier this year and have received a duo of the year nomination for the CMA’s in November.

Their first single, "Keep on Lovin' You," reached No. 4 on the Billboard Country chart in 2009. The self-titled debut album opened at No. 7 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the country charts.

There’s been no further information released on how long it’s going to take Jones to return to the state. However, the duo apparently still plans on joining Reba McEntire's All The Women I Am Tour on Oct. 6 in Moline, Ill.

Jones made it a point to thank his family, friend and management teams for their support thanked his family, friends and label and management teams for their support and active role in his recovery.

"Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily, therefore I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career,"

It’s always sad, but seldom surprising when we see celebrities get too deep into alcohol and drugs. Taking the step to try and re-gain control, however is always a good start on what will be a life-long journey to recovery. Good on Joshua Scott Jones and best of luck to him.
