It was a guys’ day for the kid and his grandfather Carl Jones when the two were out deer hunting in the woods. Apple’s highly-anticipated ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ event on Tuesday began with newly-installed CEO Tim Cook reflecting on some of the company’s successes, as well as one new one: the new iPhone. Dubbed the iPhone 4S, the gadget keeps with the company’s tradition of introducing completely new models every other year, with upgrades in between.

Sources claim Apple’s newly-installed CEO, Tim Cook, will preside over an October 4 media event in which he will announce the long-awaited iPhone 5. The date is consistent with previous reports setting early October as the release date for the next-generation smartphone.

Researchers at MIT and Princeton have developed a smartphone app called SignalGuru that will tell drivers exactly how much time they have to make the next light.

In a replay from an incident last year, another Apple employee lost another iPhone prototype in yet another Bay Area bar. If this keeps up, they’re going to start surgically implanting new phones into developers’ arms.

AT&T's stranglehold on the iPhone has officially come to an end. Starting February 10, Verizon, AT&T's chief rival in the cellular biz, will begin selling the iPhone, announcing their new agreement with Apple early Tuesday.
